The Felix Project (charity number 1100051 ) collects surplus food from supermarkets and distributes it to foodbanks, schools and charities.

On Saturday October the 10th they are holding a fundraising event called Climb The Capital in the “Eastern Cluster” of the City of London.

Participants have to walk or run up the staircases of three towers, these being the Cheesegrater, Scalpel and Walkie-Talkie.

A total ascent of around 1,760′ – that’s a third of a mile or, for any Scottish hillwalkers amongst you, more than half a Munro.

I am amongst the participants.

Three skyscrapers, 2700 steps, one 70 year old tour guide. What can possibly go wrong?

Anyway, should you feel inclined to put your hand in your pocket then anything you feel disposed to give will be gratefully received.

This is a Zoom walk on the evening of Tuesday 20th April at 7:30pm for  the benefit of Cystic Fibrosis Supporters and the Chartwell Cancer Trust.

Starting at Canary Wharf, a trip along the diverse highways, byways and waterways leading to  Wapping.

Discover what put the lime in Limehouse, the private life of a famous artist, London’s most perishable import, why a copper has a ‘beat’, medieval chemical warfare, the real story behind a notorious pirate, and why you can’t take a coffin on the Docklands Light Railway.

The Guildhall Walk in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Supporters

will take place on

Tuesday 23rd February at 7:30 pm

A walk through the City of London which you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

Your guide, Andy Ellis, will take you from the Monument near London Bridge on a jolly jaunt  through ancient streets and two thousand years of history to the City’s seat of power at the Guildhall.

Along the way we’ll encounter a musical world record, some (literally) boring stuff about the underground, a hint of Harry Potter, a dose of Dickens – plus fire, plague and even the City’s first recorded streaker.

There is no charge for the Walk but participants are invited to make a donation to Cystic Fibrosis Supporters who are passionate about raising awareness and much needed funds for research into Cystic Fibrosis. More at www.cysticfibrosissupporters.org

The meeting will run on Zoom and booking is via Eventbrite where you will be able to decide how much you’d like to donate. To help the charity you are asked to also pay the few extra pence for the Eventbrite booking fee.
